My story
I grew up between different food worlds: the spice, warmth and generosity of my Indian-South African family table, and the home-style German comfort food that filled the rest of my childhood. Professional kitchens came later, and they gave me the technique, the precision and the chef’s instinct that still shape the way I cook today.
I’ve lived and worked in both South Africa and Germany for many years, and every kitchen has left something behind: fine dining in South Africa, then a cooking school in Munich that I led, live television, and recipes developed for thousands of home cooks at BOSCH.
At some point I realised this is what I love most. Cooking for family and friends, sharing what I know with the community that grew around me online, and bringing people together through food.
Where I am now
Since Christmas 2025 I’ve been travelling through Africa and Asia with my family, cooking with locals, exploring markets and street kitchens, and learning techniques and flavours I had never worked with before.
It has been a chapter full of new ideas, recipes and stories, sitting alongside the dishes and traditions I’ve carried with me for years.
Everything I discover finds its way back here in one form or another, sometimes as a new recipe, sometimes as a fresh take on something familiar. The Borderless Kitchen is where all the different parts of my food story come together.
The Borderless Kitchen
The Borderless Kitchen is my digital home for the food I cook and love: South African comfort food, braai classics, Indian-South African family recipes, German favourites, and the Asian and European flavours I picked up in the places I’ve lived, worked and travelled.
You’ll also find plenty of fusion recipes, dishes where flavours, ingredients and techniques from different food cultures come together in a way that feels natural and delicious. For me that is what borderless cooking is about: respecting where food comes from while giving yourself the freedom to make it your own.
These are recipes I want you to actually cook, with reliable quantities, clear steps, practical tips and the small details I learnt from years in professional kitchens. Whether it’s something I grew up eating, a dish I found on my travels, a fusion of food cultures or a recipe I developed from scratch, the aim is the same: to help you cook really good food at home.
